Dan Adleman: A talk on Psychoanalytic Identification and The New Rhetoric

Dan Adleman will speak about his research into rhetorician Kenneth Burke’s co-optation of Freud’s concept of “identification.” After surveying Burke’s modifications of Freud’s theories of identification, he will bring Burke’s rhetorical approach to identification (and other psychoanalytic concepts) into conversation with Lacan’s understanding of the term.
Cartel Presentation: Crossing Paths, Counselling and Psychoanalysis

The cartel features a mix of practicing clinical counsellors, psychoanalysts, and some in between. In this alternate Tuesday presentation, we will present individual reflections on our past year of discussions and experiences, and invite others to share their thoughts and responses on this important topic.

The Lacan Salon suggests a yearly fee of $80 CDN (or $40 CDN per term) for those attending the seminar readings and other events regularly. This fee allows us to maintain our activities and continue the transmission of psychoanalysis. Everyone is welcome; no one will be refused participation for inability to pay fees.
